Project
Adaptive Irrigation & Water Optimization
An automated irrigation system that adapts to live site conditions and available water, using on-site weather station data to account for actual rainfall.
The challenge
Irrigate efficiently and reliably while making the best use of the available water resources.
The solution
We designed and deployed an automated irrigation system integrating LoRaWAN soil sensors, valve controllers, borehole and water tank monitoring, and on-site weather stations.
Edge-based control logic dynamically adjusts irrigation based on real-time environmental data and available water resources. An on-site weather station records the rainfall the site has actually received, so irrigation schedules are adjusted to measured rainfall rather than to a fixed timetable. Cloud integration enables data aggregation, trend analysis and continuous optimization.
The result
Water usage was reduced, with savings of up to 40%*, while keeping irrigation reliable and efficient thanks to the edge servers on site.
*Results depend heavily on water supply, site and weather conditions, and are not contractual.
